The Mammoth Book of British Kings & Queens

Mike Ashley

Presenting the most complete record of Britain's rulers ever compiled, The Mammoth Book of British Kings and Queens tells the stories of almost a thousand monarchs and two thousand years of history - the story of Britain herself. The rulers and their people, their victories and their defeats, their alliances and enmities, are the threads from which the unity and diversity of Britain is woven. Briton, Celt, Pict, Roman, Angle, Saxon, Dane, Viking, Scot, Welsh, Norman, English - their princes dominated the past and helped to shape the present, yet only a fraction of them are familiar to us today. The two thousand years of history covered in this book is divided into three main sections: The Dark Ages, The Fight for Britain, and Uniting the Kingdom. Each section is accompanied by a timechart, succession lists and family trees which help to clarify dates and relationships
